2016 Tinon Aszu 5 Puttyonos

Samuel Tinon's Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos is an extraordinary example of one of the most prestigious sweet wines from Hungary's Tokaj region. The '5 Puttonyos' designation indicates the sweetness level based on the quantity of Aszú grapes added during production. Produced with 90% Furmint and 10% Harslevelu, the botrytized grapes are dried for overripening, followed by careful extraction of the Esszencia. Tinon, having worked at Royal Tokaji Company, employs a traditional oxidative style with aging under a flor of yeast in Hungarian oak barrels for 2 to 6 years, creating an intriguing sherry-Tokaji hybrid character.
