2017 Clos Rougeard Saumur-Champigny Rouge
Cabernet Franc is cultivated in the Loire Valley on vineyards where vine age and soil diversity play key roles. Some plantings are on 45‐year-old vines while others feature vines aged between 50 and 70 years, established on terroirs ranging from sandy soils to clay and limestone, including limestone‐rich plots typical of the Saumur‐Champigny appellation. Organic practices are employed by certain growers, and the vineyards’ meticulous management results in very limited yields. Production techniques include careful vinification and extended oak barrel aging in cool, deep cellars, underscoring a focused approach to expressing the unique character of the terroir.
