2017 Clos Saron Home Vineyard Pinot Noir

This Pinot Noir is produced from 400 own‐rooted vines in a two‐and‐a‐half–acre vineyard owned by Gideon and Saron, planted on a north‐east–facing slope at 1500 feet in the Sierra Foothills. The vineyard’s terroir is defined by a uniquely challenging microclimate and soils composed of yellowish clay‐loam over fractured volcanic rock intermingled with quartz fragments. The 2017 vintage benefited from over 80 inches of rain after an extended drought, resulting in a wine with a dark color, medium body, and firm structure that is expected to evolve over an 8–12‐year period, potentially reaching full maturity in 15–20 years. Notably, this wine ranks as the third most expensive Pinot Noir produced in the Sierra Foothills, and its production emphasizes simplicity and minimal intervention to express its terroir.
