2017 Clos Saron Home Vineyard Pinot Noir

Produced from 400 own-rooted Pinot Noir vines planted on a north-east facing slope at 1500 feet altitude in Gideon and Saron's two and a half-acre vineyard in Sierra Foothills. The site features a uniquely challenging microclimate with yellowish clay-loam soil on fractured volcanic rock sprinkled with quartz fragments. The winery emphasizes expressing terroir through simplicity and minimal intervention. The 2017 vintage benefited from over 80 inches of rain following an extended California drought, resulting in considerable concentration and structure. This ageworthy wine is expected to develop fully over 8-12 years.
