2017 Clos Saron Tickled Pink Rosé
A co-fermentation of Merlot (65-70%) and Sauvignon Blanc or Viognier (30-35%) from the high elevation granitic hills of Nevada County in the Sierra Foothills. This is Clos Saron's first rosé to be entirely foot-stomped. After a two-day maceration, the red fruit was pressed onto the white grape skins and stems to complete fermentation. The wine was barrel-aged for 15-19 months before bottling, then aged an additional 26 months to nearly four years in bottle prior to release. This highly unusual, amber-hued rosé is noted to hit its stride 8 to 10 years after harvest, offering aromatic complexity and deep texture that defies traditional rosé categories.
