2017 Clos Saron Tickled Pink Rosé
This wine is produced using innovative, terroir‐driven winemaking techniques that vary slightly by expression. In several vintages, grapes grown in the high-elevation granitic hills of Nevada County (around 2200 ft) are co‐fermented using either a blend of 70% Merlot with 30% Sauvignon Blanc or a combination of Merlot (approximately 65%) with Viognier. In these expressions, after a short two‐day maceration during which the red fruit is entirely foot‐stomped, the juice is pressed onto the white grape skins and stems to complete fermentation. Extended barrel aging—with periods ranging from 15 to 19 months before bottling, and in some cases followed by several years of bottle aging—is employed to further develop the wine’s structure. Additionally, a distinct dry, seignée-style rosé is produced from red varietals such as Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre. Each approach highlights precise vineyard management, careful blending of red and white varietals or selection of red varieties alone, and a commitment to traditional methods enhanced by modern precision.

Grape components are processed entirely or partially by foot-stomping, initiating a two‐day maceration with red fruit blended with white varieties (Viognier or Sauvignon).
Fermentation
Co-fermentation is employed, with red fruit either pressed onto white skins/stems or incorporated into Sauvignon to complete fermentation with sustained skin and stem contact.
Aging
The wine undergoes barrel aging for 15–19 months, with some batches receiving extended bottle aging up to 26 months post-bottling.
