2018 Clos Rougeard Les Poyeux Saumur-Champigny

Les Poyeux Cabernet Franc is sourced from the estate's sandiest plot in Saumur-Champigny, Loire Valley, featuring vines 40-70 years old grown on decomposed sandstone over tuffeau limestone subsoils in Chacé, adjacent to Clos Rougeard cellars. The wine undergoes native yeast fermentation in concrete, followed by 18-24 months aging in second-pass barrels (previously used for Le Bourg). This pure expression of Cabernet Franc showcases the terroir's characteristic minerality and demonstrates excellent aging potential through firm tannins and balanced acidity.
