2018 Paolo Bea Pipparello Montefalco Rosso Riserva

The Pipparello vineyard is a hilltop site in Montefalco, Umbria, at 1,300 feet above sea level with clay and gravel soils. The vines are at least 20 years old and farmed organically. The wine is a blend of approximately 60% Sangiovese, 25% Montepulciano, and 15% Sagrantino. The Bea family has a longstanding presence in Montefalco as a classic Italian fattoria, with winemaking traditions documented in archives dating back to the early 1500s. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
