2018 Paolo Bea Pipparello Montefalco Rosso Riserva

The wine is produced from the Pipparello vineyard located in Montefalco, Umbria, at approximately 1,300 feet above sea level on clay and gravel soils. The vineyard, which features vines that are at least 20 years old and farmed organically, is managed by the Bea family—a longstanding operator in the region. The wine is crafted from a blend of roughly 60% Sangiovese, 25% Montepulciano, and 15% Sagrantino. After an extended cuvaison of 40–50 days, the wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks for one year, followed by two years of aging in large oak barrels and an additional year of bottle-age, with no fining or filtration at bottling.
