2019 San Fereolo Il Provinciale Nebbiolo Langhe Rosso

Nicoletta Bocca's 'Il Provinciale' offers a humble, provincial perspective on the aristocratic Nebbiolo grape. Half the fruit comes from a friend's prime holding in Serralunga d'Alba, while the balance is sourced from the estate's parcel in Dogliani. The wine is aged longer than Barolo and Barbaresco require, resulting in a wine of power and depth with dark, haunting notes. Nicoletta purposely underplays Nebbiolo's importance in favor of Dolcetto, in protest of Nebbiolo's aristocratic status. The 2019 vintage is bolder with stronger, tighter tannins that benefit from a long decant.
