Nicoletta Bocca's 'Provinciale' offers a humble, provincial perspective on the aristocratic Nebbiolo grape, with half the fruit sourced from a friend's prime holding in Serralunga d'Alba and the balance from her estate parcel in Dogliani. The wine undergoes a long 30-day maceration in large vats and is aged longer than Barolo and Barbaresco require, coaxing dark, haunting notes from the grapes and resulting in a wine of power and depth. The 2019 vintage is notably bolder with stronger, tighter tannins that benefit from a long decant.
