2020 Barmes-Buecher Riesling Clos Sand

Barmes-Buecher, established in Wettolsheim near Colmar in 1985 by François Barmès and Geneviève Buecher and now managed by Geneviève and her children, cultivates an array of local grape varieties across vineyards that express the distinctive character of their terroirs. Among these sites is Clos Sand, located near the top of Grand Cru Steingrübler where the vines experience slower ripening due to the unique soil composition of shale and limestone. The domain produces its Riesling Clos Sand 2020 exclusively from 100% Riesling grapes grown at this site, employing winemaking techniques that include controlled lees reduction to preserve the varietal and terroir-driven attributes.
