2020 Benoit-Dehu Initiation Blanc de Noirs Brut Nature
Champagne Benoît Déhu’s Initiation Blanc de Noirs is produced using traditional Champagne methods with a commitment to natural, organic, and biodynamic practices over 1.7 hectares in the Vallée de la Marne. The blend comprises 78% Pinot Meunier from the La Rue des Noyers parcel—sited on clay‐limestone soils—and 22% Pinot Noir from a small, hand‐harvested parcel planted with Pommard clones on clay–sand soils. Vinification is undertaken in oak barrels (including 228‐litre barrels sourced from trees in the forest of Fossoy) with natural yeast and blocked malolactic fermentation, and the wine is unfined and unfiltered. It is aged sur lattes in bottle for 24–30 months with zero dosage (Brut Nature), while some batches also benefit from additional aging in foudre, underscoring its minimal intervention approach.
