2020 Chateau Ste Anne Bandol Rouge

Château Sainte-Anne is a 15-hectare family estate in Bandol, Provence, run by Françoise Dutheil and her son Jean-Baptiste. Known for their traditional, natural winemaking approach, they have worked closely with notable winemakers like Thierry Puzelat, Pierre Overnoy, and Gramenon since the 1970s. The 2020 Bandol Rouge is composed of 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, and 20% Cinsault. The vineyard benefits from complex dry limestone mixed with white sand soils, cool nights, and strong maritime influence, allowing Mourvèdre to reach perfect ripeness. The growing season sees striking heat in summer, heavy rain in fall, powerful winds (Mistral) and a strong maritime influence. Fermented naturally with 20% whole bunches, the wine is aged 18 months in large oak foudres, producing bold, structured, ageworthy wines with silky tannins.
