2020 Diego Contero Barolo

The 2020 Diego Conterno Barolo Del Comune di Monforte d'Alba is a DOCG red wine produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Langhe region of Piedmont, Italy. In the vineyards, organic practices and meticulous hand-driven care enable strict fruit selection, with sites including those arranged in an amphitheatre-like setting in the south of the Barolo area by the Alta Langa river. The terroir is characterized by soils of clay, tuff, and calcareous marl. The winemaking process features a long, slow fermentation conducted in cement tanks paired with an increasing use of botte grande, followed by a structured aging regimen that includes 24 months in Austrian 50-hl oak barrels and an additional 8 months in cement tanks.
