2020 Emidio Pepe Montepulciano Branella Red

Branella Vineyard is a two‐hectare estate planted in 1981, featuring varied soils that include blue clay, speckled blue clay marls on the northern section, and a distinct sandy zone with lower pH centrally. From the 2020 vintage, head winemaker Chiara De Iulis Pepe focused on producing single‐vineyard wines from Emidio Pepe’s oldest plots—Casa Pepe and Branella—replacing the previous Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from old vines. The grapes from Branella are fermented with native yeasts in cement tanks and then aged for two years prior to bottling, with production limited to one bottle per customer.
