2020 Eric Texier Le Clau Rouge

Le Clau is a red wine produced from a small, 0.5‐ha vineyard planted in the 1930s in the Masson parcel of Saint-Julien en-Saint-Alban at the lieu-dit Le Clau. The wine is crafted from an old clone of Syrah known as Serine—an identity that remains unique and somewhat uncertain—and exhibits distinct ampelographic characteristics. It is vinified using whole-cluster fermentation, with approximately 20% of the grapes receiving a light treading, followed by 6–8 days of maceration with an immersed cap and native yeasts. The wine is then aged for 18 months in demi-muids. Hand-bottled by the Texier family, the final product is presented in distinctive labels featuring the names Eric and Laurence alongside an artistic rendering of the Le Clau plot.
