2020 Gonon St Joseph Rouge

St. Joseph is often considered a second-tier appellation in the Northern Rhône, but Domaine Pierre Gonon demonstrates it can rival the region's finest estates. Based in Mauves at the heart of St. Joseph, the estate is celebrated as a benchmark producer of world-class Syrah. The wine is made from 100% Syrah sourced from 7.5 hectares, including 2.5 hectares of vines up to 90 years old purchased from Raymond Trollat, with the remaining vines averaging 30 years old. The wine is produced using careful traditional methods emphasizing low yields and is made from organically grown grapes.
