2020 Sparr Riesling Schoenenbourg Revelation

A Riesling from the esteemed Schoenenbourg Grand Cru vineyard, located north of Riquewihr in Alsace. The 60-year-old vines grow at 380 meters on distinctive gypsum, Keuper marl, and dolomite rock covered in small pebbles, overlooking the villages of Riquewihr and Zellenberg. This terroir is particularly well-suited for Riesling, producing wines with a characteristic green and flinty style. The wine is aged on fine lees in stainless steel, resulting in a compact, highly structured dry Riesling with density, substance, and the complex structure typical of Alsace Grand Cru. This wine comes from one of Alsace's most famous Grand Cru sites, noted since the Middle Ages and characterized by its complex soil composition and micro-climate. Significant aeration is recommended to allow the wine to open up.
