2021 Domaine Lafon Volnay

Dominique Lafon’s Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir is produced from extensive Burgundy holdings that illustrate the region’s distinctive terroir. One estate spans 3.78 hectares of 40+‐year-old vines planted in shallow, high clay soils overlaying a solid limestone substructure, while another 3.8‐ha holding—comprising nearly half of the Premier Cru—features a mix of old and newer vines. At Domaine des Comtes Lafon, a historic property dating from the mid-19th century, the wine is vinified from younger vines with 10% whole clusters. Dominique Lafon’s operations extend over approximately 4.5 hectares in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Volnay, and Beaune, and he is recognized as a négociant, sharing production space with another winemaker while also maintaining separately owned vineyards.
