2021 Fekete Furmint

A white wine from the Furmint grape, Hungary's most honored white variety, from the historic Somló wine region. Somló is renowned for its unique volcanic basalt terroir that imparts distinctive mineral-rich character to the wines. The volcanic bedrock retains and radiates heat, contributing to the region's signature smoky, stony profile. These Furmint wines are characterized by naturally high acidity, aromatic neutrality that allows terroir expression to shine, and notable age-worthiness. Produced by the Fekete winery using grapes from low-yield vineyards, the wine undergoes oak maturation and often spends time on lees, developing generous body and complexity. At 14.3% alcohol with 2.8 g/l residual sugar and 7.97 g/l acidity, the wine balances ripeness with freshness.
