2021 Girolamo Russo Etna Rosso San Lorenzo

Etna Rosso “San Lorenzo” by Girolamo Russo is crafted primarily from Nerello Mascalese with a minor addition of Nerello Capuccio. Sourced from the San Lorenzo vineyard on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna, the vines benefit from a high-altitude, mineral-rich terroir where narrow terraces define the landscape. Notably, a single‐hectare parcel in the contrada of Randazzo features co‐planted 80‐year-old vines amid olive and hazelnut groves. The winemaking process integrates both traditional and modern techniques, with aging conducted in a combination of large barrels, cement tanks, and vats to capture the distinct influence of the Sicilian volcanic environment.
