2021 Grottafumata Terre Siciliane Carricante "Lato Sud"

This white wine reflects its Sicilian origins, with production spanning the Terre Siciliane IGT region as well as the steep, volcanic slopes of Mt. Etna. In the Etna expression, the wine is made using a skin‐contact technique—lasting approximately four days—that imparts a distinctive golden hue and enhances expression of the unique terroir characterized by lava stone soils, steep blackened slopes, and wild herbs. The blend is predominantly Carricante (around 70%) and Catarrato (about 30%), with minor inclusions of Minnella, Grecanico, Terribile, Inzolia, and Coda di Volpe, while selective production practices such as a light oak influence are employed in some vintages. Overall, the winemaking emphasizes a tropical and balanced style achieved through careful vineyard management and holistic practices.
