2021 Leoncio Pais

Leonidas "Beto" Fernández founded Leoncio in January 2021 after a 15-year sommelier career, working with local farmers to preserve the ancient viticultural heritage of Chile's Itata Valley. This 2021 vintage is crafted mostly from País with small amounts of Aramon and Cinsault, sourced from multiple parcels of own-rooted 150-year-old vines around Batuco and Magdalena Alto. The vines grow at approximately 100m altitude on basaltic red clay soils. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur addition, reflecting a low-intervention approach using native yeasts.
