2022 Domaine Belema Imago
This wine is produced in the French Alps of Savoie, specifically within the Allobroges appellation near Ayse at the foothills of Mont Môle with views toward Mont Blanc. The Gringet grapes are cultivated on steep, limestone scree and alpine terrain using organic and biodynamic practices—including both old‐vine material and young “baby” plantings. Following a direct press, the juice is fermented in a combination of sandstone amphorae (with volumes such as 10 hectolitres) and terracotta eggs (approximately 5 hectolitres), and the wine is then aged in these vessels for about one year before blending. This method underscores a commitment to expressing the region’s distinctive terroir and the historical revival of the Gringet grape.
