2022 Domaine Pierre Richard Poulsard
Domaine Pierre Richard’s Cotes du Jura Poulsard is produced in the Jura region of France, specifically within the Cotes du Jura sub-region in Vernois. The vineyard’s terroir features clay, limestone, and marl soils at around 300 meters elevation. The Poulsard vines—ranging in age from 15 to 30 years, with some noted at 25 years—are hand-harvested under low-yield conditions. Following a 10‐day maceration, the wine is aged for 12 months in stainless steel tanks. Emphasizing minimal intervention, the wine is bottled unfiltered and with low or no sulphur additions to showcase the natural expression of the varietal. Established by the Richard family since 1919 and now managed by Pierre and his son Vincent across a 23‐acre estate, the wine is characterized as a pale, light red, with an analytical profile that includes a 12.5% ABV.
