2022 Domaine Vendome Crozes Hermitage Rouge
Domaine Vendome Les Coulaires’ 2022 Crozes Hermitage rouge et bio is produced from a Syrah blend comprising 50% fruit from Mercurol vineyards (dating from the 1970s) and 50% from Larnage vineyards (established in the early 2000s). These vineyards are situated in regions where terroir reflects both loess and granitic soils as well as the classic Chassis character of red clay limestone with large, rolled pebbles. The winemaking process involves destemming followed by a controlled 21–25‐day fermentation in concrete vats at 26°C with pumping overs and two partial vat emptying/refilling steps. After the primary fermentation and a period of concrete vat raising until March, the wine is transferred to 600‑litre oak casks where it is aged for an additional 9–10 months, following an overall maturation period of 1–2 years. The final wine is unfined, filtered, and produced from organically grown grapes under AOC Crozes Hermitage.
