2022 Emidio Pepe Montepulciano Branella

The Branella vineyard is a two hectare plot purchased by the family in 1981, with an old parcel originally planted in 1966. Located with a slightly southeast exposure and more shade than Casa Pepe, the vineyard features distinct geological variations including speckled blue clay marls in the northern section and sandy soils with limestone in the center zone, which has a lower pH. This plot is breezier and cooler than Casa Pepe, producing a wine that is more structured and aromatic, with firm and bright character. The wine shows fresh, bright and pure character with lovely precision, displaying taut raspberry and cherry fruit with dried rose petals on the nose and palate, fresh thyme and sour cherries, linear fruit, good acidity and nice tannin.
