2022 Johan Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir is produced from fruit sourced from diverse vineyard parcels in the Van Duzer AVA and surrounding areas, including Johan Vineyard—a Certified Biodynamic estate planted on gentle-sloping vineyards with Helvetia, Steiwer, and Santiam silts derived from ancient marine sedimentary bedrock at approximately 250 ft elevation. The wine is crafted from carefully selected Dijon clones 114 and 667, representing a range of rootstock/scion combinations, vine ages, and soil profiles meant to express the true terroir and the growing season's variability. Production techniques include hand harvesting, fermentation with 30% whole clusters using native yeasts, and a 19-month maturation period in used French oak barrels, with egg white fining performed using eggs from Johan’s own chickens.
