2022 Lapierre Cuvee Marcel Lapierre

This wine is produced exclusively in exceptional vintages from Gamay grapes grown on 100‐year‐old vines in the Morgon appellation of the Beaujolais region, including areas such as Morgon’s Côte du Py. It is crafted in the natural style championed by Marcel Lapierre, employing late harvest techniques, minimal intervention measures, and little to no addition of sulphur dioxide. The wine is unfiltered and reflects the unique mineral terroir of its vineyard site, with production methods that emphasize structural integrity and aging potential. Production details, including the natural winemaking approach and the use of venerable old vines, underscore its connection to traditional practices and the distinct soil characteristics of the region.

Farming

Certified Organic production incorporating Biodynamic methods is employed with no added sulfites, pesticides, or chemicals. Traditional techniques include late harvesting of century-old and old vines with naturally lower yields, and grapes are hand-harvested with minimal use of sulphur dioxide.

Harvest

Grapes—including those from older vines—are handpicked at the latest possible moment for optimal ripeness.

Fermentation

A traditional Beaujolais semi‑carbonic maceration process (15 to 36 days) is employed alongside natural fermentation practices that rely on indigenous yeasts without added sulfur or commercial yeast, reflecting minimal intervention winemaking and slight sulphitation when applied.

Aging

The wine is bottled unfiltered, with some expressions aged on fine lees in old Burgundy barrels.
