2022 Mabileau Chenin des Rouilleres

Chenin des Rouilleres from Frederic Mabileau is a beautiful expression of Chenin Blanc from sandy-gravel vineyards on the eastern side of Anjou in the Loire Valley. The wine is certified biodynamic (Biodyvin). One-third of the fruit undergoes a few days of skin contact. The wine is aged in 50-hectolitre foudre on the lees. Loire Chenin Blanc is characterized by its distinctive high acidity and chalky minerality, though this expression shows a fuller, richer texture with creamy complexity and a gently chewy finish.
