2022 Matthiasson Chardonnay Linda Vista

This Napa Valley Chardonnay is produced by Steve Matthiasson, a California pioneer, from organic grapes grown in the cool-climate West Oak Knoll area. The fruit comes from 35-year-old vines at the Linda Vista vineyard behind the winemaker's home, originally planted in 1989 by Beringer. The wine undergoes two harvests (80% early, 20% later) to achieve balanced alcohol content and bright acidity. It is aged in neutral French oak barrels, with the oak well integrated to contribute a round texture. The wine showcases concentration aided by a dry vintage and low yields, reflecting a precise yet sun-kissed character true to modern California winemaking.
