2022 Suriol Bancals Cava

This portfolio encompasses distinct expressions of Catalonia’s white wine traditions. One offering is a dry sparkling wine produced in the traditional method with a Brut Nature dosage and styled as “Berries and Cream.” In addition, the entry white labeled “Bancals” is crafted at Can Suriol, a biodynamic estate where 50‐year‐old vines are grown on steep limestone/clay terraces. The grapes are hand‐harvested and pressed into a large underground vat where spontaneous fermentation proceeds for approximately six months. The wine is then aged for a further eight months in a 500L chestnut barrel before being bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with no additional SO₂. A further expression comes from 80‐year‐old Xarel·lo vines grown in the heart of Alt Penedès. This wine is naturally fermented and aged in traditional chestnut barrels, techniques that underline its deep expression of local terroir and the timeless character of Catalonia.
