2022 Tameran Marmajuello

Tamerán Marmajuelo is a white wine produced on a 6‐hectare estate in Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, established in 2019 by footballer David Silva in collaboration with Jonathan García. The wine is crafted exclusively from the native Marmajuelo grape grown in vineyards planted on volcanic soils at approximately 700 meters above sea level on the border of Santa Lucía and San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Emphasizing a respectful agricultural approach, the winemaking process employs traditional techniques using native yeasts. The wine is aged in wood, with one phase involving maturation in 2,500‐liter oak foudres with lees for 10 months (with an alternative reported period of 9 months in foudres), following an early harvest due to the grape’s short cycle. Production details note that the 2022 vintage resulted in 3,330 bottles filled in June 2023.

Farming

Marmajuelo vines are cultivated as a single royal cordon on rocky volcanic soils with cover crops. They are grown organically using respectful agriculture practices that avoid herbicides, systemic treatments, and chemicals. All vineyard work is carried out by hand to preserve the natural expression of the fruit with minimal human intervention.

Harvest

Grapes are hand‐harvested and gently pressed.

Fermentation

Indigenous (native) yeasts drive fermentation in neutral oak tuns, barrels, or 2,500‐liter oak foudres; one stage lasts approximately 25 hours.

Aging

Maturation occurs on lees in oak vessels (25 hl to 2,500‐liter foudres) for 9–10 months.
Bottling: Bottled without fining or filtration.
