2022 Tschida Himmel Auf Erden II Maischevergoren
Christian Tschida's Himmel auf Erden II Maischevergoren is a natural orange wine from Burgenland, Austria, made from Scheurebe and Muscat grapes. The name Maischevergoren translates to skin contact, referencing the winemaking technique where grapes are destemmed and foot-crushed, then macerated for varying periods. Some lots undergo 2 weeks of skin contact while others undergo 4 to 8 weeks. The wine ferments with indigenous yeast in large barrels with no racking, then ages for one year in 500 to 1500-liter neutral oak barrels. It is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with no added sulfur. The wine benefits from aeration and should not be served too cold. An ode to the work of the famous Austrian artist Alfred Hrdlička.
