2022 Zappacosta Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is one of Italy's quintessential wines from the beautiful region of Abruzzo, flanked by the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine foothills. This pure Montepulciano showcases Abruzzo's signature red grape, famously high in anthocyanins and known for its satisfying, deep color. Plush and suave, with caressing tannins and a delightful mouthful of black cherry fruit, this wine has pleasure written all over it. Aromas of smoky black cherry and blackberry fruit, warm toast, and plum skin lead to a palate with grippy tannins and structure featuring cherry, black currant, forest floor, and violet. The wine displays beautifully integrated flavors of red berries, violets, and licorice with a velvety rich palate and balanced acidity. Intense ruby red with violet reflections, rich and fragrant nose with notes of violet, red berry fruits, and liquorice.
