2023 Cantina Massara Verduno Pelaverga
Pelaverga is an autochthonous, pink‐skinned, large-berried grape cultivated exclusively in Verduno, Italy, a historic commune noted for its chalky soils and long winemaking heritage. The Verduno Pelaverga DOC—recognized since the late 20th century and rooted in traditions dating back to the 1850s with Cantina Massara—is produced in purity from this almost extinct variety. Vinification involves controlled-temperature stainless-steel tanks with an eight-day skin contact followed by delicate pump-over techniques, ensuring a light red style that reflects the terroir and meticulous modern winemaking practices.
