2023 Casale Del Giglio Bellone

Casale del Giglio’s 2023 Bellone "Anthium" White Wine is crafted from the ancient Bellone grape, an indigenous variety historically prevalent across the hills and valleys of Lazio and noted by classical authors such as Pliny the Elder. Once the dominant grape of the region and used by Roman elites before phylloxera nearly wiped it out, its revival reflects the winery’s commitment to preserving Lazio’s rich viticultural heritage. The grapes are grown in the Latium region on warm, sandy soils that benefit from a persistent sea breeze, which supports their vigor and drought resistance. The production approach combines traditional viticultural practices with modern techniques to authentically express the terroir and history of this remarkable grape variety.
