2023 Chateau Ste Anne Bandol Rosé
This Bandol rosé from Provence is produced from Cinsault, Grenache, and Mourvedre grapes grown in vineyards on clay and limestone soils—some managed organically—with an average vine age of approximately 45 years. Hand-harvested grapes undergo direct pressing with a short maceration period, and the wine is fermented in stainless steel using indigenous yeasts, allowing both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations to occur at their own pace through the saignée method. The coastal Bandol terroir, along with traditional practices employed at estates such as Château Sainte Anne, contributes to a wine typically bottled at 13% ABV and reflects the region’s distinctive viticultural heritage and precise winemaking techniques.

Harvest
Grapes are hand‐harvested.
Fermentation
A direct press with short maceration initiates a spontaneous fermentation driven by indigenous (ambient) yeasts. Depending on the style, the saignée (bleeding) method is applied, with minimal intervention—SO2 is added only after racking—and fermentation is managed to control pace and alcohol levels.
Aging
Fermentation concludes with aging either exclusively in stainless steel tanks or through extended maturation in foudres and bottles.
