2023 Clos du-Tue-Boeuf Cheverny Rouge Rouillon

Cheverny Rouillon is a 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay from a 1.9-hectare estate vineyard at Clos du Tue-Boeuf in the Loire Valley. Named for the reddish tint of its iron-rich clay-limestone soils, the vineyard is split into two parcels planted in 1991 with Pinot Noir and 1996 with Gamay. Produced by Thierry Puzelat and his brother using organic farming practices, the wine undergoes whole-cluster semi-carbonic maceration with spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts and no added sulfur during fermentation. It is aged for 6 months in used demi-muids and bottled unfiltered, classified as AOC Cheverny.
