2023 La Torre Rosso di Montalcino
La Torre Rosso di Montalcino is a Sangiovese red wine from Montalcino in Tuscany, produced exclusively from the Sangiovese Grosso grape. The grapes are sourced from a full‐south facing parcel that tends to yield a less tannic wine than Brunello, with the vintage noting challenges such as mildew pressure and lower yields affecting optimal fruit ripening. After destemming, fermentation is conducted using indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for 18 months, primarily in large oak casks of Slavonian origin, with about 10% of the final cuvée maturing in small used French oak barrels. It is produced by Azienda Agricola La Torre, bottled at 14% ABV, and adheres to green production practices.
