2023 Luigi Giordano Vino Rosso

Luigi Giordano’s estate vineyards, located in and around the historic village of Barbaresco, produce a brilliant translucent ruby wine crafted from a unique blend of Nebbiolo and Arneis. Predominantly composed of 80% Nebbiolo and 20% Arneis—with occasional variations reflecting the producer’s stylistic choices—the grapes are sourced from some of the region’s most prestigious crus. The Arneis is destemmed and gently pressed to preserve its aromatics, while the Nebbiolo, harvested approximately two weeks later, is similarly destemmed and pressed before being combined with the Arneis must. Fermentation occurs under precise temperature control with daily pump-overs, followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless-steel tanks and subsequent aging in Slavonian botte and bottle. Produced in accordance with Certified Sustainable and Organic practices and estate bottling protocols established in 1958, this wine exemplifies a modern approach that respects traditional terroir and winemaking techniques.

Farming

Farming practices include Biodynamic Farming, Certified Sustainable, Organic, Organic Farming, and Sustainable Farming.

Harvest

Arneis (20%) are destemmed and gently pressed to preserve aromatics, while Nebbiolo (80%) is harvested two weeks later, destemmed, and pressed—with the actively fermenting Arneis cap (skins, seeds, and must) subsequently added.

Fermentation

Co-fermentation is conducted under temperature control with daily pump-overs, maintaining Nebbiolo skin contact for 8–10 days to balance extraction with freshness. Malolactic fermentation is then completed in stainless‐steel tanks.

Aging

The wine is aged for 2 months in large Slavonian botte, followed by at least 3 months in bottle prior to release.
