2023 Marc Pesnot La Boheme Melon de Bourgogne
Marc Pesnot farms 22 hectares of fifty-year-old Melon de Bourgogne vines near Nantes. After discovering natural cuvées from pioneers like Lapierre in Beaujolais and Overnoy in Jura, he embraced minimal-intervention winemaking. His La Boheme is hand-harvested and destemmed, undergoes slow manual pressing for 18 hours, ferments spontaneously, and rests on lees in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for at least nine months before bottling unfined with minimal sulfur and light filtration. Declassified as Vin de France for legislative reasons, these Muscadets have gained significant popularity.
