2023 Peter Lauer Reisling Senior

This wine is a single‐vineyard Riesling sourced entirely from the Grand Cru Kupp in the Saar Valley, specifically from 70‐year‐old vines—including many ungrafted examples—located at the tail‐end of the Ayler Kupp. It is crafted in a dry, legally Trocken style (approximately 10 grams of residual sugar) through natural fermentation techniques that reflect longstanding local traditions. The wine’s production also pays tribute to Florian’s grandfather (Peter Lauer I), underscoring a deep heritage within the region.

Farming

Organic farming practices are used.

Harvest

Grapes are gently pressed whole‐cluster with occasional pump-back during a short maceration to enhance texture.

Fermentation

Natural fermentations are conducted to achieve a dry (Trocken) style—sometimes reaching an approximate 10 g/L residual sugar level—with techniques that extract site-specific mineral and savory characteristics.

Aging

The wine is aged for 6 months in stainless steel, fiberglass, and 1000L oak casks, with no fining and minimal sulfur additions.
