2024 COS Ramí Bianco

Rami is an orange wine from COS, a benchmark producer in Sicily's Vittoria appellation founded in 1980 by Giambattista Cilia, Giusto Occhipinti, and Cirino Strano. This wine is a 50/50 blend of native Sicilian grapes Inzolia (Insolia) and Grecanico, fermented and macerated on the skins in concrete vats for 8-15 days, resulting in its distinctive amber color and rich texture. After skin contact, the wine is raised in amphora clay vessels and aged in concrete vats for nine months, followed by three months in bottle before release. The extended maceration and winemaking approach create a wine with weight, concentration, and vibrant minerality characteristic of the region.
