2024 Foradori Lezer Teroldego

Lezèr, meaning "light" in local dialect, was born from the challenging 2017 vintage when Foradori's Teroldego crop was damaged by a summer hailstorm. This short-maceration red wine is made from 70% Teroldego, 15% Schiava, 10% Lagrein, and 5% Merlot sourced from 8 hectares of vines on sandy, gravelly alluvial soils throughout the Dolomitic terroir. The wine is produced using experimental techniques with spontaneous fermentation, varying amounts of whole bunches, and different neutral vessels including amphora, concrete, steel, and wood. After assemblage, it is refined in cement for 4 months without clarification or filtration. This vin de soif has become a continued success, with the family experimenting annually with the blend composition, vessels, and whole bunch percentages. Best served lightly chilled.
