2024 Jean Foillard Morgon Cote du Py

A natural Gamay produced from the mythical Côte du Py plot in Morgon, one of Beaujolais' most esteemed terroirs. The vineyard features steep, south-facing slopes composed of granite and schist soils that impart distinctive mineral tension and complexity. This cuvée demonstrates the site's capacity for producing age-worthy wines with Burgundian complexity, showcasing intense aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries, wild berries, and violets complemented by subtle floral hints and spice. The wine is light and juicy with vibrant acidity, silky yet structured with smooth tannins and juicy red and black fruit wrapped around a core of minerality. The finish lingers with elegance, freshness, and a hint of savory earth. The wine develops remarkable concentration while maintaining the elegance and freshness that define great Morgon, with structure reminiscent of classic cool vintages that reward patient cellaring.
