2024 Lapierre Raisins Gaulois
Raisins Gaulois, meaning "Gallic grapes," is a Vin de France from Domaine Lapierre produced from young vines grown on decomposed granite soils. This cuvée takes the Vin de France appellation because Beaujolais eliminated the Vin de Pays designation, and consists almost entirely of fruit from the Morgon cru with a small amount of A.O.C. Beaujolais. The late Marcel Lapierre championed organic farming and a winemaking philosophy of "nothing added, nothing taken away." Made from pure Gamay using carbonic maceration, the wine is raised sulfur-free for two months in cuve and bottled unfiltered with a screw cap. Designed as an accessible introduction to the domaine's wines, it embodies the uninhibited essence of Beaujolais.
