2024 Niepoort Docil Vinho Verde

The 2024 Dócil is a Vinho Verde crafted from organically farmed Loureiro grapes over 20 years old, sourced from granitic soils in the Lima Valley east of Porto. Inspired by the concept of a Kabinett trocken, this wine showcases contained ripeness and high acidity balanced by approximately three grams of residual sugar, selected after experimentation ranging from completely dry to 18 grams. The vintage reflects a shift to a more Atlantic location and a cooler growing season than 2022. Produced through soft pressing without maceration to achieve elegance and volume, the wine exemplifies the terroir-driven character and mineral backbone that distinguish the finest expressions of this indigenous varietal. The nose opens with lime zest, florals, citrus, wet stones, and passionfruit. The palate is light with zippy acid and the lightest bubbly edge to the lime, lemon, florals, and wet stones, offering floral and fruity citrus notes with an overall impression of elegance and lightness. The palate is fresh and aromatic with great balance between flavours and a long, mineral-driven finish.
