2025 Arnot-Roberts Rose

A distinctive rosé blending 71% Touriga Nacional, 15% Trincadeira, 11% Grenache, and 3% Tinta Cão from multiple California vineyard sites. Touriga Nacional, a late-ripening Portuguese variety requiring heat to mature, is sourced from four vineyards: Luchsinger's rocky volcanic soils in Clear Lake AVA at 1,400' elevation, St. Amant's sandy granitic loam in Amador County, St. Jorge's granitic alluvial soils in Lodi's Mokelumne River AVA, and Pierce Ranch's sandy clay with Monterey Shale in San Antonio Valley. Grenache comes from Fenaughty vineyard at 2,800' elevation in the Sierra Foothills. The fruit is hand-harvested and lightly foot-crushed before pressing, then fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel with full native malolactic, and blended before bottling in early January.

Farming

Organic. Organic farming practices encouraged in partnership with vineyard owners. Vineyards located in cool to very cool viticultural areas, with cool air moderation from Sierra Nevada Mountains moderating ripening. Soil composition includes rocky volcanic soils, sandy granitic loam, granitic alluvial soils, sandy clay with Monterey Shale. Sites suited to Touriga variety, resulting in lower sugars and alcohol levels with higher acidity.

Harvest

Hand-harvested fruit, lightly crushed by foot to release color prior to pressing, grapes allowed to macerate to give light color

Fermentation

Native yeast fermentation in stainless steel tanks, full native malolactic fermentation

Aging

Wines blended together to harmonize prior to bottling in early January
