2025 Domaine Comte Abbatucci Vin de France Rosé "Faustine"

Named after Jean-Charles Abbatucci's daughter, Faustine, this Corsican rosé is made from mostly Sciaccarellu grown in solid granite just twenty minutes from the Mediterranean Sea. The vineyard's proximity to the coast infuses the grapes with seaspray and stone character, while the wine expresses the aromatic complexity of Corsican maquis—the island's distinctive scrubland of myrtle, immortelle, heather, and rockrose. The resulting rosé displays a rose petal color and glistening, sun-kissed quality. Serve at 8-10°C.

Farming

Certified biodynamic by Demeter since 2000. Horse plowing with manual harvesting in small crates. Sheep grazing controls winter grassing with green cover between rows. Phytotherapy practices influence vineyard management. Granite areana terroir with north to northwest exposure. Vineyard management follows natural rhythms and biodynamic principles.

Harvest

Manual harvest in small capacity trailers to preserve the harvest; systematic sorting in the vineyard and in the cellar; hand picking with low yields; destemming and crushing followed by approximately twelve hours of skin maceration; direct pressing of whole bunches using gentle pneumatic pressing

Fermentation

Static settling for 24 to 48 hours; alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats at cool temperatures around 18°C; indigenous yeasts from the vineyard; no malolactic fermentation to preserve natural freshness; sensible use of sulphur

Aging

Aging on fine lees for six months; maturation in vats; natural tartaric stabilization by keeping cold; light filtration at bottling if necessary
